Findon Riding Club started off in the early 1970s. Findon has the reputation of being a friendly welcoming cluband having something for everybody, being one of the few riding clubs in the North East which has a junior members as well as seniors. Findon has always had a strong association with show jumping, with at least four BSJA judges having been chairperson of the club over the years. Whilst show jumping is still a hugely important part of the clubs activities, it is really more of an all round club nowadays. Dressage is a very important regular activity, with top quality training also featuring, the consequence of this being that there are many club members who are competing in their chosen competition with great success.
Membership of Findon regularly stands at around 200 with members coming from as far afield as Montrose, Ballater and Huntly. Flatwork and show jumping training is available all year round at different venues across the North East. All members are welcome to attend training, regardless of age or experience. Findon has a tremedous reputation for excellence both in junior and senior team and individual competitions at Riding Club Championships, and boasts several National Champions over the years in different disciplines including Horse Trials, Show Jumping, Style Jumping, Riding Test, Dressage and Dressage to Music. The success at National level has been outstanding but Findon offers all members the opportunity to enjoy the fun and camaraderie of team competitions. Whilst teams are chosen for the competitions which qualify for the Championships, there is usually a non-qualifying team competition which runs alongside the qualifying one, and all Findon members are welcome to participate in that.
Findon runs ever popular dressage and show jumping league competitions over the winter months. During the summer months a working hunter show, summer show, combined training, jumping derby's and summer show jumping league from our showfield at Maryculter. All Findon members can keep up to date with what is happening by using the website, Facebook or by email. All schedules can be downloaded from the website, which is the main source of information and hopefully is enjoyed by all.
